ORDERING REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS

Ordering Repeat Prescriptions

Our Repeat Prescription process requires a turnaround of two working days. Patients should not therefore, expect their medication to be ready for collection from the surgery by either themselves, or their pharmacy before two working days have elapsed following their request.

This means, if a repeat prescription is ordered on Friday afternoon before 2pm, the medication will be ready on Tuesday afternoon after 2pm. Please remember that the surgery is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays and on these occasions the turnaround will be increased.

Although prescriptions may be printed shortly after the request is received, each prescription is scrutinised and signed by a doctor. This is why we cannot guarantee that a prescription will be ready in less than two working days. Please order two weeks in advance of your medication running out.

Remember - the items listed on the repeat medication slip are the only items available as a repeat request. Any other items have to be authorised by a doctor. This may therefore take longer and may mean that two prescriptions need to be issued rather than one.

The surgery has a list of local pharmacies that collect patient's prescriptions on a daily basis. If you wish to use this service please speak to the prescription clerk.

How To Order

Hand delivery or post
Whenever possible, patients should use the repeat medication slip on ordering the next one rather than using the repeat prescription telephone line. These are the most efficient and accurate way of ordering repeat prescriptions and will ensure that errors are kept to a minimum. Bring it to the surgery and pop it into the box at the reception counter, or send it to us using the postal service with a stamped addressed envelope for return.

By telephone
Our prescription request line is open from 12.00pm to 2.00pm, Monday to Friday. You can order your repeat prescription by telephoning:
0117 980 5101.

This is a busy line, therefore, if you should experience a delay in being dealt with, your patience would be much appreciated.

Fax
You can fax your medication request through to us. Please include your full name, address and the name of the medication, including the dose and strength you require. Our fax number is: 0117 980 5104

Online Prescription Ordering
You can request a repeat prescription by completing and submitting an online form. First you will need to read and accept our terms and conditions.
